What is an Individualized Study Abroad Program?
This external program type allows you to study abroad and transfer credit to ArtCenter to fulfill major and/or H&S requirements with approval. You may also use state/federal aid if you are eligible through FAFSA.
What is CET Film Production in Prague?
CET Academic Programs offers an immersive semester in film production in partnership with FAMU — the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Czech Republic. Students apply to CET and study there for a semester while earning transfer credit toward their ArtCenter degree.

February 1 — Summer or Fall term abroad
September 1 — Spring term abroad
Study abroad program deadlines vary but are typically due one term prior to your term abroad. Check your program for exact deadlines.

Students seeking transfer credit must complete ArtCenter's Individualized Study Abroad Authorization process.

Summer Term: Mid-June - Late-July
ELIGIBILITY
• Have completed at least two terms
• Have at least one term remaining at ArtCenter after returning
• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
• Not be on academic or disciplinary probation at the time of application
• Have previous experience with 16mm film if interested in working with 35mm
• Not have previously participated in an individualized program

COST
Administrative fee
Pay a $250 fee to ArtCenter’s Global Program Office to confirm your participation.
Tuition
Participants in CET programs pay all tuition and program fees directly to CET. Please follow this link for a full breakdown of these fees and what they cover. No ArtCenter tuition will be due for this program.
Additional estimated expenses to consider
• Round-trip international airfare: up to $1,500
• Passport: $135
• Visa (if required)
• Daily living expenses (meals, cellphone charges, toiletries, etc.): $50–$60 per day, varies by location and personal budget
Financial Aid + Scholarships
• You may use eligible state and federal financial aid if you complete ArtCenter’s Individualized Study Abroad Authorization process.
• ArtCenter institutional scholarships and grants are not available for this program.

About The Program:
Study in the city that is home to filmmakers such as Miloš Forman, Agnieszka Holland, Emir Kusturica, and Jan Svěrák. CET's Film Production program focuses on both the process of filmmaking and the medium of analog film (16mm or 35mm). Study away students work in small groups to take a short film through each stage — from pitching to filming to color grading in post-production — alongside professionals and under the guidance of an experienced mentor at FAMU, one of the top film schools in Central Europe.

Fall And Spring Semester Courses
Students on this program take two core courses in film production, one language class, and enroll in one to three FAMU International electives for 14 to 18 total credits. The Czech language class is taught by CET, while the remainder of the curriculum is taught by FAMU faculty who are working professionals. Students will work with their ArtCenter departmental advisor to transfer coursework back to ArtCenter and receive credit towards graduation.

Students take two courses taught exclusively for CET students by FAMU faculty. FAMU faculty offer mentorship as they guide each group through the process of creating a final film.
PR/FILM 410 Narrative Film: Pre-Production and Production (130 hours, 6 credits)

PR/LANG 101 Beginning Czech Language (3 credits)
This course focuses on the basics of Czech grammar system and vocabulary used in everyday conversational topics. Through exposure to the language, students also learn about Czech holidays, traditions, and habits, and since this course is taught exclusively to FAMU students, students are introduced to well-known Czech filmmakers and their achievements, with special attention is paid to terminology and situations related to film making, photography, and A/V media.This course is taught intensively during the first week of the fall and spring programs. No other classes are taught during this time. Starting in the second week, Czech language hours are reduced and other classes begin. Throughout the semester, class schedules may be adjusted according to student production schedules.
