What is an Individualized Study Abroad Program?
This external program type allows you to study abroad and transfer credit to ArtCenter to fulfill major and/or H&S requirements with approval. You may also use state/federal aid if you are eligible through FAFSA.
How to Apply
Step 1 — Submit application to ArtCenter Global Programs portal
Step 2 — Once approved by Global Programs, apply directly to study abroad program
Step 3 — Forward your study abroad program acceptance notification to Global Programs
Application Timelines
Submit ArtCenter Global Programs application by:
February 1 — Summer or Fall term abroad
September 1 — Spring term abroad
Study abroad program deadlines vary but are typically due one term prior to your term abroad. Check your program for exact deadlines.

Review your degree audit and identify Major/Minor/H&S requirements you need to fulfill for graduation.
Meet with the Global Programs office. We can help you discover program options and answer any questions. Use our online calendar to schedule a meeting.
Applying to Your Individualized Study Abroad program
Step 1 — Submit application to ArtCenter Global Programs portal.
Step 2 — Once approved by Global Programs, apply directly to study abroad program.
Step 3 — Forward your study abroad program acceptance notification to Global Programs.
Notes
Study abroad program applications usually require an approval form to be signed by the study abroad office at your home institution.
Email this form to globalprograms@artcenter.edu as soon as you receive it.Allow plenty of time for the application process and pay close attention to your study abroad program requirements and deadlines.
Apply for a passport if you need one or start the renewal process if your passport is about to expire. Begin researching the requirements for a student visa, as applicable.
What to Do After You Are AccepTED TO yOUR Individualized Study Abroad PROGRAM?
Forward your study abroad program acceptance notification to Global Programs.
Attend a mandatory meeting for accepted students with the Global Programs team.
Confirm your participation with your study abroad program.
Pay your $250 administrative fee to ArtCenter in the Global Programs portal and begin completing your ArtCenter pre-departure documents.
International students: Please inform the International Student Services office about your study abroad plans in case it may impact your visa status.
Things to do before you leave
Complete all ArtCenter pre-departure documents in the Global Programs portal, including your completed Transfer Credit/Course Approval Form.
If you are a recipient of state/federal financial aid, please contact the Global Programs office to complete a Financial Aid Consortium form with your program.
Attend the mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation with the Global Programs team and review all information from your study abroad program.
Register for the 12-credit placeholder class and then file for a Leave of Absence for the term you are abroad.
